You will never understand (why my worldliness has gone) (paper, acrylic, thread). Michael Madzo has been painting for 28 years. His works have been shown across the United States, Mexico, and Europe, including at Couturier Gallery in Los Angeles from 1991 up through last year. Madzo’s labor-intensive process involves paper, threads, and acrylic paint. Cut and layered, painted papers are assembled into forms before being sewn together with colored thread. Images are striking, oft familiar, story-like figures inviting archetypal translations of a shared yet arcane narrative. Words and stories are collected from the everyday poetry of form and color, reassembled into imagery. To find out more and see a video of Madzo’s process, visit www.MichaelMadzo.com. On Labor Day weekend, the artist will exhibit at the Sausalito Art Festival. Every year, fine art, music, food, and wine come together along the scenic Sausalito Waterfront for one of the country’s oldest, most prestigious open-air art events. The Sausalito Art Festival attracts art aficionados and collectors from around the world and is renowned for its quality, variety, and the sheer scope of art on display, as well as for a celebrated entertainment line-up and special exhibits. More info is available at www.SausalitoArtFestival.org.
