Two Classics (oil on canvas). Debbie Claussen has won numerous awards for her paintings of animals. Most recently, she won the 2005 AKC/Eukanuba National Championship Poster Competition. She was featured in The Artist’s Magazine in 2004 and 2005. Claussen was accepted into the New York Dog Fanciers annual show in 2003 and into the California Watercolor Association National Show in 2002. At the Colored Pencil Society of America “Explore This” show, Claussen’s watercolor/colored pencil painting was presented with the Silver Award of Excellence. Her paintings have been finalists in The Artist’s Magazine international art contest, which receives more than 13,000 entries each year. The inspiration for Two Classics was an orphaned greyhound-mix she met at Tony La Russa’s animal rescue in Walnut Creek.
