Reverence (20 inches by 40 inches, oil painting on canvas). The setting for this painting is the Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in Delhi, India. The building was commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan, who also built the Taj Mahal. Berkeley, who includes this piece in his Passages series, uses oils to create still lifes, landscapes, and his specialty, commissioned portraits, in a representational-impressionistic style. Visit his studio in the Sawtooth Building (933 Parker St., #40, Berkeley) to commission a portrait, see works in progress, or take a weekend workshop. An 18-by-12-inch glossy poster of Reverence is available for purchase online at sbart.com/reverence. For info: (510) 984-1850, seamus@seamusberkeley.com, or seamusberkeley.com.
