Pug Sweater (digital). This pug in a sweater is a holiday reminder that your family gatherings could always be just a bit more awkward. Mike S. Young is a Bay Area illustrator/designer who received his BFA in illustration from California College of the Arts and his MFA from the Bauhaus University. He has worked in various fields, from book publishing to video game production. As a fine artist, he explores themes around culture, politics, and mortality, drawing inspiration from the fantastical and the mundane. Coming from a background in illustration, he uses narrative to help connect viewers to a piece and relay ideas that might otherwise be missed. His work can be viewed online at www.MikeSYoung.com and in person at Fourth Street Fine Art in Berkeley.

Rockridge residents John Bliss and Kim Thompson may live far removed the gritty flats of East and West Oakland.
