Partridge in a Pear Tree (cover) and Flight (Gift Guide cover); both oil and paper. Chris Buzelli, a New York–based illustrator and artist, intertwines childhood memories with fantastical beasts in his moody, magical work. The result captures the feeling of a bygone era—”somewhere,” he says, “in between this world and one filled with gigantic beasts and sea creatures.” Raised in Chicago, Buzelli graduated from Rhode Island School of Design. His paintings have appeared in many publications, including Rolling Stone, Time, Playboy, The New York Times, and Entertainment Weekly. He also shows his work in galleries throughout the United States. To see more, and to purchase art and prints, visit chrisbuzelli.com.
