Light (Monotype on Board) Cie Goulet’s landscapes have been compared to van Gogh for their color and intensity and to Charles Burchfield for compositional drama. The artist says she is drawn to the visual dynamism more than the literal translation of a landscape. Goulet’s work can be found in numerous private and public collections including the Federal Reserve Bank, State Department and Portland Art Museum. Currently her work is being exhibited at the Solomon Dubnick Gallery and the Art Foundry in Sacramento, the Laura Rosso Gallery in Portland, Ore. and the Jenkins Johnson Gallery in San Francisco. Goulet attended the University of Oregon, San Francisco Art Institute and Parson’s School of Design in New York. She taught drawing and was  gallery director at State University of New York at Potsdam. Goulet lives in Emeryville but spends part of the year in Salonika and Crete. Goulet can be reached at (510) 594-9649 or ciegoulet@besler.org. View more of her work at www.ciegoulet.com.

In the Philanthropic Swim

Rockridge residents John Bliss and Kim Thompson may live far removed the gritty flats of East and West Oakland.
