Catch and Release, 2018

COVER | Dana DeKalb

Catch and Release, 2018 (acrylic on polyester). This paining will be featured this month at Berkeley Art Center in the exhibition Wonder Women curated by George Krevsky. Artist Dana DeKalb was born in Sumatra, Indonesia, and raised overseas by her parents who were American expatriates working abroad. Her unusual upbringing is evident in her narrative paintings, which portray the dreamlike stories of strangers in a strange land. DeKalb’s style is also influenced by her appreciation of early American primitive paintings as well as Arabic and Persian miniature paintings. Read more about her at www.DanaDekalb.com. Visit Berkeley Art Center 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wed.-Sun. at 1275 Walnut St., Berkeley, in Live Oak Park. www.BerkeleyArtCenter.org.
