Buddy in Harley Hat (2-by-3 digital print on canvas) Buddy is a happy-go-lucky Poodle-Bichon mix who was wearing a cute little Harley-Davidson hat when his companion snapped his picture and commissioned Ellie Fidler to do his pop art portrait, which she painted in Photoshop with tiny one-pixel brushes for hair and detail (no filters were used). Buddy’s portrait is on display at Builders Booksource in Berkeley, through March 31. Also on display are Fidler’s Fiesta Tea Towels—which double as wall hangings—of poppies, chevrons, diamonds, polka dots, and leopard spots. Fidler is a painter and textile designer who has designed tapestries for more than 20 years, including large-scale pieces for major national and international corporations. A Toronto native who now lives in Berkeley, Fidler has an MFA in textiles from California College of the Arts and has studied at York University in Toronto and California School of Professional Fabric Design.
