We’re thrilled to launch the Best of Berkeley and the East Bay, a celebration of the incredible people, places, and businesses that make our community so unique. From locally loved restaurants, artisan coffee roasters, and neighborhood boutiques to fitness studios, healing wellness centers, stylish salons, and innovative local services, this annual event shines a spotlight on what makes Berkeley and the East Bay truly the best.
Born from the desire to let readers share their voices and champion their favorites, the Best of Berkeley has grown into one of the most exciting community-driven honors in the region. It’s all about recognizing excellence—from the essentials to the unexpected—in dozens of categories that reflect the heart and soul of our cities.
Here’s how it works:
• 🗳️ Round One: Open Nominations (May – June)
During this phase, readers nominate their top picks across all categories. This is the time to get your favorites on the ballot!
• 🌟 Round Two: Final Voting (July – August)
Once nominations close at the end of June, the finalists are set—and it’s time to vote! During this final round, only the top nominees are listed, and readers choose the best of the best.
🏆 Winners will be announced in September, and will be featured in our special issue and across all of our platforms—giving the community even more reason to celebrate.
