Ever since school let out for summer, 56 underserved middle-school students have been spending their days at Cal Performances’ annual AileyCamp, learning dance and vital life skills—for free—from the pros at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. On Aug. 4, the transformed teens go public with a performance at Cal’s Zellerbach Hall.

The California Revels invokes the storytelling and spirit of the holidays this year by dancing the quadrille that hails from 18th-century France and telling the story of backcountry hunters who make a deal with the devil.
